Are these Career Mindset Blocks keeping you from having the career you want?
Imposter Syndrome
Self-Sabotage
Judging Others
Negative Self-Talk
All of these are ways that your mindset keeps you from taking action towards your career goals.
Mindset has become a catchphrase, but really it’s nothing new. Thought leaders have been talking about mindset before there was even a word for it. Even the Bible and the Tao Te Ching talk about mindset. Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to them that believe” Mark 9:23.“Empty your mind of all thoughts. Let your heart be at peace.” – Lazo
Now let’s review these mindset blocks that can arise when you’re looking to have a career change.
Imposter Syndrome is an internal belief that you’re not as competent as others perceive you or those around you. This can creep up when you’re starting a new project that’s out of your comfort zone. Or if you’re trying to break into a new career field.
Self-Sabotage are behaviors or thoughts that hold you back from pursuing your career dreams. This can believing you don’t have time to devote to your career growth. Or saying that you want to wait until the right time to make a change.
Judging others is a reflection of how you feel about yourself. What you judge others about is where you feel you’re weakest. When you judge others, you don’t define them. You’re defining yourself.
Negative Self-talk. When it comes to your career goals or growth, negative self talk can be so sneaky. It can show up as “I can’t do that.” It’s usually a reaction to a career goal that seems out of reach or impossible for you now.
Anything can be done, just look at all the amazing things you’ve accomplished already. Which of these is currently holding you back? Is it a mix of a few?
